About
From one reverse osmosis contract to eight disciplines
SAAJTECH grew from a niche maintenance contractor in 2011 into a full-service engineering and contracting partner — by buying plant, training crews and taking the scope around the scope.
How we got here
The business began in January 2004 as Aljanawi Welding and Fabrication. In 2011 it became an independent entity, Saaj Technical Mechanical Contracting Est., trading as SAAJTECH, and took on reverse osmosis maintenance at Al Dur on a two-shift basis. In 2017 the corporate structure was formalised as a W.L.L. enterprise.
The transition from a single-discipline maintenance contractor to a six-discipline contracting partner was deliberate. Each new capability was added because a client needed it and the available subcontractors could not be relied upon to deliver it inside the programme.
Why we own the plant
Eleven butt fusion machines, three vibro hammers, three excavators, eleven dewatering pump sets and six sedimentation tanks are owned outright. That is a substantial amount of capital tied up in equipment, and the reason for it is simple: hired plant arrives when the hire company can supply it, with unknown maintenance history and operators who have not worked with our crews.
Owning it means the programme is ours to control. It also means the machines are specified for the work we actually do rather than for the widest possible hire market.
How we work
- We take the scope around the scope. Every interface between separate subcontractors is somewhere a programme leaks. Where we can hold the civil, mechanical and ground works together, we do.
- We say what we do not do. Structural design certification is issued through a licensed engineering office that reviews and stamps the calculations. We do not self-certify design.
- We prefabricate. Work that leaves the workshop finished arrives on site as an assembly job rather than a construction job.
- We record what we did. Fusion parameters, lamination schedules, seam logs and test packs are issued at handover, not reconstructed afterwards.
Where we work
Across the Kingdom of Bahrain — on operating desalination and power plant, in industrial facilities, on infrastructure programmes and for the main contractors building them. Our crews are inducted to most major industrial sites in the Kingdom.
Safety
Zero lost time injuries over the last five years, across a workforce that spends most of its hours inside operating industrial plant and in confined spaces. We hold ten gas detection sets, positive pressure respirators and tripod rescue equipment, and comprehensive accident insurance covers all employees.
