Fire sprinkler systems

Sprinkler installation is executed to the approved hydraulic design and the hazard classification it was calculated against. Pipe sizes, head spacing and coverage come from that design; the installation’s job is to build it as drawn and prove it holds pressure.

Steam, condensate and thermal fluid

Steam systems are governed by thermal movement. Pipework that is anchored and guided incorrectly will either tear its supports apart or transmit the movement into equipment nozzles. Expansion provision, anchor design and support type are set out before installation begins, not corrected afterwards.

Testing

• Hydrostatic testing to the applicable code test pressure
• Weld inspection and NDT to the specified extent
• Documented test packs issued at handover
• Welding to approved procedures, with WPS, PQR and welder certificates available on request
