Industrial maintenance and shutdown

We have maintained operating desalination plant in Bahrain since 2011, working two shifts at Al Dur from the start and continuing through the change of operator in 2021. That is not project work with a start and a finish — it is a continuous presence inside a plant that cannot stop producing water.

Working on live plant imposes a discipline that project sites do not. Permits, isolations, confined space entry, hot work controls and gas testing are routine rather than exceptional, and the crews are used to being stood down and restarted at the operator’s convenience.

What we bring to a turnaround

• Crews already inducted to Bahrain’s major industrial sites
• Ten gas detection sets, positive pressure respirators and tripod rescue winch for confined space entry
• Valve replacement and line modification on seawater and process service
• Membrane replacement and pressure vessel work on RO trains
• Pipe spool prefabrication ahead of the window, so site time is assembly only
• Structural repair to plant civils executed inside the same outage

Confined space entry

A large share of what we do on operating plant happens inside a vessel, a sump, a tank or a culvert — RO pressure vessels, seawater intake chambers, chemical tanks, basins and below-grade pits. Confined space is not a category of work we take on occasionally; it is a condition most of our plant work happens under.

• Confined space certified manpower — entrants, attendants and entry supervisors, with training records issued per crew
• Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) sets and positive pressure respirators
• Ten gas detection sets for pre-entry testing and continuous monitoring during occupancy
• Tripod rescue winch and retrieval harnesses for vertical entry
• Forced-air ventilation, intrinsically safe lighting and low-voltage tooling
• Permit-to-work discipline, isolation and lock-out verification, and standby rescue arrangements

Entry is worked to the host plant’s permit system, with gas testing before entry and at the intervals the permit sets, a dedicated attendant at the opening for the duration, and a rescue plan agreed before the first entrant goes in.
